Volunteering in Kenya has been rife over the last 20 years or so. Volunteer projects abroad is becoming exceedingly popular amongst many travellers. Volunteering in Nairobi is by and largley one of the most popular destinations volunteer's are visiting today. There are various obvious reasons behind the success stories of Kenya and Tanzania. They are both very stable countries in comparison with a lot of Africa. They have famous attractions known world wide such as the Masai Mara, Mt Kilimanjaro and of course the Serengeti. They have unique tribes and cultures which are vastly different from the rest of the world including the Masai and Samburu people.
Once a country becomes known and appreciated on a global scale there is no surprise in seeing visitor numbers rise to such destinations. Volunteers on the whole will visit a country with all this in mind. The main aim of their trip is to serve and help the local communities in a range of various activities from teaching children to working with HIV/AIDS orphans. Most of the time volunteers will take time out to explore the country visiting the famous landmarks and attractions to fulfill their experience.
East Africa is currently prospering in comparison with some of it's neighbours including Somalia and Sudan. Volunteers are embracing the new cultures and traditions these countries have to offer and can experience it in relative peace and quiet. There are many outside developers investing within these reasons boosting facilities and amenities giving the country more infrastructure to show off.
Volunteers on the whole have an experience of a lifetime whilst on projects within this area. It is not only the local communities in Africa who benefit positively but also the volunteer's themselves. They gain the sense of achievement, gratification and self-belief which all comes as part of the package. It is a great motivator and a great realisation of what people can do when they put their minds to it.
